Francis Bacon School
Objective
Francis Bacon School in St Albans has had a challenging time in recent years and has therefore been taken over by the highly successful school and academy sponsor, Sir John Lawes School, in Harpenden.
The plan is to close the school and then re-open as the Samuel Ryder Academy in September 2012 as an all-through school providing a high quality education for children of 3-19 years of age.
In the meantime it was important to update the existing Francis Bacon School web presence because it had been neglected for many years and did not reflect the possible new direction of the school.
The new academy could not be 100% confirmed because of the consultation process so we could not develop a site for the academy and the existing school had to carry on as ‘life as usual’ so it was important that we produced a simple, updated web presence for the school which looked towards the future direction of the academy.
Solution
We provided the client with an updated website with a split home page so that visitors could access all of the school content whilst also being able to see academy news and access information and consultation documents. We also added a countdown mechanism to help build positive anticipation towards the academy launch.
